Description

Hello,
I am using NavIt? for a short periode of time and I am very exited about its possibilities. Great work[[BR]] From time to time it happens, that I am routed through points, that are obviously wrong. Sometimes bridges, that go over streets, where they go below in reality or crossings on bridges a.s.o.
It would be very helpfull, if I could mark those points while driving with something like a one-click-solution:
Tap on the map, click "Report OSM Bug" and my be some limited default values like "wrong link", "wrong road" and "common error". AS I said, very limited and fast, because it is clicked whlie driving. Maybe You have a look at "Waze", where those features are implemented, just to get an idea, what I am takling about -of course, waze doesn't use OSM.
The "marks" should be send to "http://openstreetbugs.schokokeks.org/" as a new bug. May be in the settings of NavIT the user can setup his default "nickname" for bugreport.

That is a good point and maybe I can implement it once. Just a few more remarks:

  • think about devices, that work always offline (most WinCE based navis)
  • care about usability, as the most people will report map bugs while doing other things (driving, are on a trip, ...) and make it as easy as possible
    • make use of cameras, voice recordings, selecting of presets, ...
  • care about details that are needed for the one who will fix the bug, but he has no local impression/informations
  • maybe bugs need to be voted on, to fight vandalism
  • maybe a "clearing house" service is needed to filter bad/wrong bug reports and not to spam the official OSM services -> don't argue the community and waste their time (which could be spend by fixing real bugs)
  • allow (passivly) reporting bugs, or activly searching for bugs (approve ex. bugs, add missing names, ...)

Most of this ideas result in the experience of the services as www.osmbugs.org, www.openstreetbugs.org and especially www.mapdust.com (created by the Skobbler navigation people) from both reporter and fixer perspective. An official API is now called "notes" functionality.

An interisting approach might be http://openfixmap.bmaron.net
