what about porting navit to the iPhone/iPodTouch, both support OpenGL/ES ?

Description
Either SDL would have to get ported, or the SDL backend would had to get replaced by a native one for the iPhone SDK.

I prefer tracking to be done here rather than on SF : we need to focus on only one tracker.
About porting, first thing we'll need is a volunteer... Anyone wants to apply? :)
We can help with the port, but not do it ourselves at the time being.

Porting on iphone would have one big difficuly : storing maps. If anyone wants to try, patch welcome.

I have to say that i'm quite impressed by your work. I look forward for your patch, you can contact me if you need storage or whatever. My gf has an iphone and imac (nobody's perfect, even her ;) ), i can do testing if you want.

Thanks for your flattering comments :) But your work on this project is also really great ! If all run smoothly, I should be able to share patch and debs at the end of this week. There is a packaging issue in navit deb file. I need to fix it and test it first on 3.0.
