no startup after configuring gps source

Description

I am using the newest version of Navit, a daily build. WinCE 5.0 on a cartrek 600 gps device (something like a tomtom) I used the maps from this site: http://maps.navit-project.org/

I configured navit.xml (with a mapset); renamed navit.exe to MobileNavigator?.exe(so that cartrek 600 will recognize it as a program); I renamed the navit folder to MobileNavigator?; Navit worked correctly including the maps (I was able to see some streets of my country); then I replaces a Unix example with this: <vehicle enabled="yes" source="wince:com7:" baudrate="57600" /> and the log file said "please add a mapset" but I have one mapset enabled, and the mapset configuration worked untill I configured the gps receiver.

<mapset enabled="yes"> <map type="binfile" enabled="yes" data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/maps/benelux.bin"/> <map type="binfile" enabled="yes" data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/maps/st.petersburg.bin"/> </mapset>

(notepad doesn't recognice the enters in the xml-file, libre-office can't open it, so I have to use Qt Creator (on win7) to edit navit.xml)

Hi!

Looks like you have some error in your navit.xml. At first, look if you have not replaced <vehicle UNIX STUFF >....</vehicle> with <vehicle WINCE STUFF />....</vehicle>. Probably you have vehicle element closed twice.

If above won't help, it is worth to post your navit.xml here.

Good luck...

the xml file is to big so I can't add it as an attachment. <vehicle /> ... </vehicle> hmm... you're right, but why does it say the mapset is wrong? at least it's working now, thanks.

is there a way I can let Qt creator check the code so that it won't happen again?

Ideally, make navit.xml smaller by simplifying it (in a way that the problem still shows). That makes it easier for others to check it. If you cannot do that, try attaching a compressed version, or upload it to some filehost and post a link here.

Hard to say without the complete file, but Navit's XML parser is quite simple-minded, it can get confused by incorrect XML.

Just use some XML checker. Most Linux systems have xmllint; there are also many editors with XML capabilites, e.g. Notepad++ with the "XML Tools" plugin.

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

As this was just an incorrect navit.xml, closing as invalid. If the problem persists even with a correct navit.xml, feel free to reopen this bug with more information.
