Some objects not rendered with T@H layout

Description

I've noticed that all ways tagged as highway=service seem to be missing from the map. (The map in question is from OSM planet extractor). From a conceptual point of view I would say that these ways should definitely be displayed and used. For example, ways at highway service stations are usually tagged that way, and there are cases where navigation instructions to get out of the service station and back onto the highway (into the right direction) come in very handy.

I had a closer look at it today as I was driving around and it seems to be a rendering error as it happens only with T@H layout but not with Car layout. The T@H I'm using may still be something I've dragged along from some navit.xml as of some build in the 2900s, so I'll update to the most recent and post the results of that test here.

Just tested with the corresponding navit.xml layout section taken from navit-svn-3292.zip (Windows CE build) and encountered the same error. It seems there's quite a bunch of objects missing in the T@H layout (among others, a nearby pharmacy was also missing and suddenly appeared as soon as I switched from Car to T@H layout).

It's really a shame as T@H is in my opinion the best layout approach in navit, as its look and feel (especially the color scheme) is pretty close to the default Mapnik view in Openstreetmap. It helps a lot if the same type of road has the same color on the PC screen and on the PDA...

The trouble is that it's quite a chunk of data to examine. Is anyone aware of a tool to quickly diff the T@H layout against, say, the Car layout to identify the missing pieces?

  • Summary changed from highway=service in binfile not renderered to Some objects not rendered with T@H layout

I was also using the T@H layout, but noticed the same missing objects and gave up. I created my own from scratch to closely resemble the Mapnik rendering (in style and colouring). If you're interested, let me know and I'll put it up on the wiki...

Yes please...! Or is that the same as Korrosa's layout?

If we have an OSM-like layout, I'd suggest adding that to navit.xml and making it the default - the majority of Navit users will probably use OSM data, and will most likely find their way around more easily with the familiar OSM layout.

It's the same - I'll create a better link in the wiki with a dedicated page for the OSM-style layout soon...

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

Alternative layout styles available at http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/Layout.

Closing ticket, as T@H is old now, and this "bug" is a "feature"!!

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
