French translation : télécharchez → téléchargez

Reported by: jonas Owned by: cp15
Priority: minor Milestone: version 0.5.1
Component: port/android Version: git master
Severity: trivial Keywords: translation, android, i18n

Description

En français : Il y a une faute d'othographe dans le menu andoid. "télécharchez" n'existe pas c'est "téléchargez" De plus pour l'ensemble des menus j'utiliserais plutôt l'infinitif du verbe et pas l'impératif ("télécharger ..." à la place de "téléchargez ..."; "Quitter Navit" à la place de "Quittez Navit"

In enlish but ... prefere french version (my english it's so bad ...) There are misspellings in the android's menu : "télécharchez" don-t exist it's "téléchargez" To most for all menus : I would use the infinitive of the verb and not the imperative ("télécharger ..." to replace "téléchargez ..."; "Quitter Navit" to replace "Quittez Navit"

I agree the infinitive form is clearly better.

Alors:

"télécharchez" --> "télécharger" "Quittez Navit" --> "Quitter Navit" "Cherchez adresse" --> "Chercher adresse"

Autre chose? Peut-etre: "conduisez" --> "conduire ici" ?

Il existe de nombreux autres peines, sans traduction en français. Voir: http://navit.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/navit/trunk/navit/navit/android/src/org/navitproject/navit/NavitTextTranslations.java?view=markup

Pouvez-vous aider à traduire les phrases manquantes?

<hr> There are a number of sentences in NavitTextTranslations?.java which are only translated into English and German. A few also have translations in Dutch and French, but not all. Is there any way the Android translations could be integrated with the Launchpad service, as this would standardise editing translations across Navit?

well yes and no. navit android version is already using the launchpad tranlations when no tranlsation is found in the java source. somebody just needs to import the english texts into launchpad

but many german tranlsations now are really awful. we should rather have no translations (e.g. english) then translated text that people will not understand or find awful (or will destroy the layout)

Yes and no to which question? Perhaps I should have made it clearer:

Q1: Does Navit use the translation files (.po) which can be edited on Launchpad to translate the sentences in NavitTextTranslations?.java? (I suspect it does not)

Q2: If it does not, is it technically possible to use the translation files editable on Launchpad to translate the sentences in NavitTextTranslations?.java? (Perhaps there is another way we could do this without even needing NavitTextTranslations?.java...)

@jonas, @haandoo In the meantime, could you have a look at the contents of http://navit.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/navit/trunk/navit/navit/android/src/org/navitproject/navit/NavitTextTranslations.java?view=markup and write in this ticket which sentences need modifying? Probably easiest to write the original sentence and then what it would be modified to (perhaps also with line numbers for easy ID).

I have translated the sentences for the french language, it was easier to do it directly in the file. Here it is attached (navittexttranslations.txt). It would be great if you could also integrate the Launchpad translations.

Thanks

That's fantastic, many thanks. I've gone ahead and created a diff of NavitTextTranslations?.java so that the devs can easily apply it to SVN head.

Well, that's annoying - when viewing it via the web the diff looks all corrupted, but it has been saved in UTF-8 with Unix/Linux? line endings. If I download the diff (http://trac.navit-project.org/raw-attachment/ticket/810/NavitTextTranslations.diff) and open it it seems to be fine. YMMV!

What else should I do to have this and the translation made via Launchpad applyied to SVN? I see 4417 is DE only langage support. An Italian guy also requested an update for his input.

  • Keywords i18n added
  • Milestone set to version 0.5.1

We try to get Launchpad back #1141 and later switch to a more specialized service #1143.

Was the original french lang issue fixed?

comment:11 Changed 7 years ago by usul

  • Severity set to trivial

So launchpad is back, please check if this issue had already been fixed.
