Description

It would be great if there was a filter to display only a certain kind of POIs in the Map (for example gas stations or ATMs). Currently there is only a possibility to switch POIs on or off entirely.

Hello,

you can organize your POIs into several layers in your navit.xml and switch those layers on and off as needed. For example you can split up the layer "POI Symbols" in yout xml and enable the ones you need. You also have the possibility to enable/disable layers runtime by using the command toggle_layer() (see: http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/On_Screen_Display)

this sounds pretty tedious, and there is no GUI for that. imagine user on the road editing navit.xml to include poi's he needs ;)

as for me, intuitivelly i would expect poi search menu able to create and disable poi filter display aswell. this also accounts for ability to view only search results, i.e. in case when we just searched for restaurants, and managed to find out just ones serving food we need.

So we currently have a cleanup on the whole map configuration thing and try to splitup mapstyles, so maintaining/customizeng them will become easier http://forum.navit-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=400. And we are working on lifting the UI and improve several dialogs: http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/User:Usul/UING

To include your ideas, it would be usefull if you add some more informations:

  • Why doesn't satisfy the POI search or default map style your need?
  • What specific features are you missing?
  • Provide specific usecases/personal user stories on how this features can solve problems, that others are unable to solve?

As this ticket is very outdated, I set it to a information req. waiting for new details.
