Just to clarify: this effect occurs when an osd type "button" with an image (defined using src) uses a png image and a use_overlay for keybindings. This problem is hinted at in the wiki: http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/On_Screen_Display#Transparent_Icons_and_Overlays

When I convert the pngs to xpms, the semi-transparent pixels are deleted and rounds buttons are kind of pixelated. Also, the color quality seems to be lower using xpms. So there is no way around pngs. This is happens only when overlay is enabled
