Description
if one wgets a portion of openstreetmap and processes the files with osm2navit, it is possible to use the "destination" dialog and have find the streets as you type.
However, if the user downloads a pre-processed map portion for maps.navit-project.org/download, it is not possible to find city/street names in the destination dialog.

I've just tried with the following bbox osm_bbox_-76.1,44.4,-70.7,47.2 downloaded today from the planet extractor, and navit-r3411, i was able to search streets in Montreal city.
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.
this does not happen with Munich, but it happens if you extract a map of Montreal, Canada (center="4530.4058 N 07336.7540 W").
