Description
I'm running Navit on a Debian desktop (svn3255) and on OpenMoko FreeRunner (svn2876), map comes from OpenStreetMap via maptool.
Pedestrian highways do not have names displayed on the map and they are not found during street search.
If I click such a way, I can see the label attribute, but not the street_name.
Is it a bug of maptool (osm2navit) or a bug of Navit?

I cannot find some streets as well. They have highway=living_street.

this issue has been fixed a while ago. Please open a new bug, if you can't find a street. Also I had no problem searching (and finding) "Calwer Straße" in Stuttgart with current navit. Which version of navit did you try, on which platform (Linux, Win, Android?) and where did you get your map from?

rikky, thanks for checking that "Calwer Straße" in Stuttgart works for you. Indeed it does work now on my i386 build as well. In my n900 build search does not work, but "Calwer Straße" displays now on my map (navit built from today, maps converted myself with maptool from today). Also cp15 confimed a few days back, that it does *not* work for him.
On my n900 I have a custom navit.xml, but after looking at your commits I have the impression, that for search navit.xml is not affected, only for displaying the street names. Is that right?

I tried with SVN4776 on linux with various pedestrian ways:
- Kröpeliner Straße, Rostock
- Mecklenburg Straße, Schwerin
Both display streetname and you can find them via adress search.
As I haven't a N900 for testing (yet), I will close the ticket. Feel free to reopen it any time!
Thanks for watching for bugs and letting us know!
Half the problem is solved: the names were not displayed on the map because the layout does not have a <text> entry for street_pedestrian.
But street search does not find street_pedestrian, even if you add the street_name attribute to them.
